  • Non-Discrimination Policy

MiOrtho Surgery Center provides for admission and services without regard to race, color, national origin, disability, or age. If you have a specific question, comment, or complaint, please do not hesitate to contact the Executive Director of MiOrtho Surgery Center at 248-234-9300.

  • Advance Directive and Living Wills

MiOrtho Surgery Center has the purpose of being an ambulatory surgery center to provide elective surgical procedures to stable patients. Therefore, the board of managers and the medical staff have elected not to recognize and/or provide patient care during the patient’s admission to the Center in accordance with either the patient’s advance directives or living will.

Please feel free to bring your advance directive documents with you to the Center and we will be happy to put them in your chart in the event you need to be transferred to another facility in an emergency.

  • Covid Policy

    General Information

The CDC has a COVID Data Tracker https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view that monitors COVID community levels at high, substantial, moderate, or low per county. As of 5/22/2023 Oakland County has maintained a risk low community level. Facility Management will monitor the CDC COVID Data Tracker on a weekly basis and will re-evaluate the COVID protocol and adjust MiOrtho Surgery Center policies and protocols according to this level.

    General Requirements

While Oakland County remains in the “low risk” level, patient and visitor on-site temperature checks, screening questionnaires, and masking guidelines are not required. These guidelines will be re-evaluated and may be reinstated if/when the Oakland County risk level reaches the “moderate,” “high,” or “critical” risk determinations according to the CDC tracker.

    Patients

    • All patients will receive a pre-screening call during which a COVID-19 screening questionnaire will be completed as well as review of their health history and procedure instructions.

    • Pre-operative COVID testing of patients will no longer be required while Oakland County remains in the “low risk” determination according to the CDC tracker. Pre-operative testing requirements will be re-evaluated and may be reinstated if/when the Oakland County risk level reaches the “moderate,” “high,” or “critical” risk determinations according to the CDC tracker.

    • Patients testing positive for COVID-19 and/or with exposure to someone who tests positive for COVID-19 need to disclose this information to their physician and MiOrtho staff as soon as possible for additional follow up. Postponement of surgery may be evaluated on an individual basis.

    Visitors or Patient Companions

The safety of patients and visitors is very important and so all visitors or patient companions will be required to follow appropriate measures while in the surgery centers:

All visitors or patient companions wanting to enter the building:

    • Must be free from COVID-19 symptoms. Visitors who are experiencing COVID symptoms will be asked to return to their car or sent home.

    • While remaining “low risk”, it is recommended, yet not required, for the visitor/patient waiting-area occupancy to be limited to the number of individuals who can be present while staying six feet away from one another (12 individuals). If the risk level increases, these guidelines will be re-evaluated. Patients and visitors may then be asked to wait in cars for their appointment to be called if limits have been reached.

There will be signage at entrances into the facilities stating:

    • The current Oakland County Risk Assessment level for COVID-19

    • The appropriate masking recommendations and requirements according to current risk level

    • Instructions and a phone number to call the center instead of entering if someone is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.

Hand sanitizer and face coverings are available at patient entrances.
